WHO:             The Chinese Hospital Health System: Chinese Hospital, Chinese Community Health Care Association, Chinese Community Health Plan and Chinese Community Health Resource Center.

WHAT:           Top city and community advocates will gather to launch the Chinese Community Computer Lab and Training Program. The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is mandating Meaningful Use,  a set of standards involving the use of electronic health records to improve health outcomes, increased efficiency, and additional research data for healthcare systems. Meaningful Use is to be achieved through 3 stages over 5 years. The purpose and benefits of Meaningful Use include 1) Complete and accurate information, 2) Better access to information, and 3) Patient Empowerment.

Many of our community members are without basic computer and Internet skills. The Chinese Hospital Health System is at the forefront in working towards this national healthcare improvement goal by preparing and equipping our community with basic computer and Internet skills to access their personal health records.  For community members who are literate with using computers and Internet, we will show them how to access their personal health records.  This program aims to minimize the digital divide through linguistically appropriate and hands-on training.
