Gavin’s passion for serving the Chinese community is reflected in the work he did as an Intern for CCHRC in the summer of 2013. During that time, he satisfactorily completed many tasks, including promoting the computer program at CCHRC’s Wellness Library, assisting in health education classes for the elderly, writing articles for CCHRC’s bilingual health website, participating in the drafting of a manuscript to address association between health access and cultural identity, and promoting a smoking cessation research project by visiting physicians’ offices around Chinatown. He possessed a striking combination of passion for community work, high intellect and resourcefulness, and work ethic. His internship at CCHRC provided him with both academic and community experiences. His enthusiasm, determination, and professionalism also made a lasting impression on those that he came in contact with during his internship.
