As a mentee and intern working under Dr. Angela Sun, Executive Director of CCHRC, Joanne made a significant contribution to CCHRC during her three-year commitment to the organization. During 2009, she volunteered in health education events hosted by CCHRC, administered convenience sample surveys in San Francisco and San Mateo counties, assisted in improving CCHRC’s teen health website, and helped patients to access health resources. In 2010, Joanne was hired by CCHRC as a Patient Navigator and Assistant Health Educator. This position enabled her to demonstrate her abilities in program development and evaluation. After being promoted to Health Educator and Research Assistant, Joanne continued to show dedication and tenacity through her participation in research projects, instrument development, data collection, grant and report writing, and presentation development. Joanne went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
