The Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC), a nonprofit organization serving the public for over 30 years, is disheartened by the unremitting violence-and hate-driven incidents affecting Americans of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, as well as their families and communities. These traumatic encounters and observed experiences are not only affecting our physical and mental health, but they are also jeopardizing our holistic health.
As CCHRC’s mission is to build a healthy community through culturally and linguistically competent preventive health, disease management, research programs, and advocacy. For over 30 years, we have helped connect people to information and services that they need. CCHRC will continue to help our community navigate through ever-changing information to move forward through the stages of change brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic and disturbing incidents.
We condemn these attacks and the racist rhetoric that fuels them. We support our fellow AAPI communities and stand in solidarity with all marginalized communities. I urge all of us to think about what each of us can do to break this vicious cycle of blame, segregation, and fear. We can be up-standers to discrimination, hate, and violence by speaking out with inclusion, compassion, and humility. Together, we will rise above and start the process of healing and return to the road to health.
